Thanks Carmen -- looks like at least 3 of us are fans of the New Media contract. Turns out it works great for feature length projects, too. I find that the only actors who don't appreciate it are the "Must Joins" because they have to join the union if they want to continue to be a part of the project.

Hey all! I also used the SAG New Media agreement for my series. It's been no hassle so far and my actors, of course, appreciated it. -Carmen

Wow, I leave for a week to go cast my new feature film and all of a sudden, we have new members. Welcome Branden, Brendan, Tony, TheRealGIrls and CCTTproductions!

PL - thank you for the great feedback. I checked into this idea further and you're SO right -- it turns out the New Media agreement is far more flexible and less costly than any other contract, as long as we intend to make use of new media as part of our distribution plan. If we get picked up for other distribution, we'll simply need to renegotiate contracts and pay everyone accordingly (or transfer that responsibility to the distributor), which would be a pretty terrific problem to have. I'm thrilled by the freedom of this contract! :)

Thanks you so much Maitely! Same here! It's great to find other producers close by. This is great!

I believe you can. I haven't gone through a situation like that recently, but I would assume that it can still be distributed online. I don't think you should have a problem with that.

Honestly I feel that it has more advantages then drawbacks. A lot of actors/directors who are friends of mine in NY have actually gone further because of being SAG eligible for films and features. So in any event my hat goes off to you for doing that. I'm terribly sorry. I hope I was helpful in my couragous pursuit to answer your question - haha. But if you happen to have any question feel free to ask me anytime. I recently checked out your website as well and it rocks! I love it!

Can't wait to see you new film! Bravo!

Danielle :)

Welcome to the Creative Producers Group, Danielle. I'll check out your website. I'm always looking for new collaborators in NYC, so I hope we do get to know one another at some point. In the meantime, I have a question -- when you're working on indie features, have you ever used the New Media contract with SAG (assuming it can be distributed online)? I'm currently faced with that question for a feature I'm currently developing for an autumn production period and while SAG says I can do it, I wonder if there is a drawback.
