I'll review other shows soon, but I want to start by posting someone else's review of The Scare Game, the show I'm working on. This is a review of the first episode from "Shock Room: A Horror Movie Blog":

The Scare Game is a new horror/comedy Web series, which demonstrates with its mid-October premiere that talent and inventiveness are more important than a big budget. Producer Brian Wenrich, director Phillip Hughes, and actor/writer Jenn Daugherty have assembled cast and crew around an original premise: A shared enthusiasm for horror films has inspired a group of friends to engage in scenarios which are the slasher equivalent of paintball.

Vince (Scott Bryan) has the enviable role of mask-wearing, knife-wielding stalker. His objective is to "kill" as many of his pals as possible. And while this might sound easy, his prey give him a workout. His brother (Ryan Jason Cook), object of desire (Kate Costello), and buddy (Jason Witter) do everything they can to resist being "killed." They take the sporting element of their pastime seriously, engaging in real physical competition to avoid being the evening's victims.

Often in a Web series or independent film there are moments and performances that work well, and others that require patience. Not so with The Scare Game. Displaying the ease and confidence of experienced pros, these actors make the viewer want to spend more time getting to know the characters. They are charming rather than quirky and fully realized rather than self-conscious--a sign that the artists involved feel a high level of commitment to the show.

According to Uncanny Entertainment, season one is scheduled to consist of thirteen 7-10 minute episodes "exploring the topics of horror, voyeurism, and the ultimate unrequited love--fandom." We get the series hook in the first episode: It seems that someone besides the players has taken an interest in their activities.

I recommend The Scare Game based on a first episode for three reasons:

• The script, direction, and acting are quite good.
• The production team behind Uncanny Entertainment racked up an impressive range of credentials before tackling this project.
• It's a professional looking, local effort set in New Mexico and employing film industry people who are based there.

Featuring some nudity and the anticipated level of action/violence for a horror series, The Scare Game is suitable for adult genre fans and all grownup Web viewers who appreciate good timing and smart ensemble acting directed with a clean, crisp style. Horror/comedy is a tough sub-genre because it's all too easy to turn smarmy. So far this series manages wit without nudges and winks. I will be watching.

Viewers can find the show at thescaregamedotcom, or you can catch edited versions at YouTube, Vimeo, and Metacafe.

James Cameron's 'Avatar' not a "must-see" movie but worth checking out at your leisure. The movie is enjoyable, but way too long at 3 hours. 7 out of 10 for me. Looking forward to more Sam Worthington in 'Flash Gordon' 2010.

yes, high production value, but I had to stop watching halfway through episode two (the first one I watched). I could not tell what what going on, more importantly I didn't care. Great acting, editing, shooting, etc. Very poor writing. what is it about? why should I care? if it doesn't grab me even a smidgent in the first four minutes then I can't go on. sorry not trying to be mean just being honest. feel free to rip apart my show. I like constructive criticism. It makes our show better and better as we go on.

Of course, I have to recommend The Scare Game, seeing as I work on it. But I'd recommend it even iyes, high production valuef I didn't. Great writing, acting, directing, one of the best looking web shows I've seen (high production value).

My other favorite at this point is Gold. More great writing and acting. Very funny.

Not sure if we are just supposed to review indie webseries's or not, but I highly recommend Children's Hospital. It's a dark comedy with a sick sense of humor. Each character is on their own twisted journey.

Favorite quotes:
"A hospital is a place for smart people who take care of people who aren't smart enough to keep themselves healthy."

(referring to x-ray) "I'm just supposed to trust some black and white space photo?"
