Take your time and don't rush. Everyone is learning as they go. I agree, get a camera and start shooting, see if you like what you shoot; get a product out there so people can see your vision, what they would be investing in. Good luck!

Hi Guys!

I'm on a mission to create my very first web series and in my mad dash to learn everything about this new medium, I've joined this great community. I can't believe there aren't more of us here yet but I'm sure that will change soon. I, for one, promise wholeheartedly not to post any shit, using the words of John Meyer. I'm totally in agreement that quality brings a stronger audience.

To get my web series produced at a reasonably high quality, we're using kickstarter to fund it. I ask you to check us out in order to make suggestions, donations or referrals. Anything constructive can and will help us make a good show.

We did that already, actually. I posted the link to a very early concept video on kickstarter but for some reason it never showed up in my post. Ah well. We put it up on Kickstarter and have raised $2500 so far. Our budget is much higher than that, though, since we have signed on amazing writers and a terrific director so we're creating it at big screen quality for festivals.

Since my platform used to be exclusively theater, I'm starting from scratch with video. I haven't any contacts in this medium so I had to hire a good crew. I love the idea of getting people to join me as collaborators, though, and hope that this project will help me prove myself as a video producer so people will be more inclined to do so.

By the way, do you find it very difficult to get into festivals?

Trying the link again:

I really appreciate the dialogue. I'm glad we managed to pull something together that seems in line with your advice -- very encouraging!

Hi Web Series Network!

My name is Neal Fischer and I am the Co-Creator and Director of a new web series entitled COFFEE BREAK. It follows two writers and an actor as they try to make it in the biz. We consistently take a look inside the writers heads and flesh out their ideas on screen. We hope to build a bigger following and make some new friends to help cameo/shoot or join in on the fun here on the web series network. We are influenced by movies, comics, Felicia Day, Joss Whedon and many more. Most of all, you guys. For putting the same amount of hard work we do.

We shoot 22min Episodes and split them into three parts. Part 1 of 3 is up now. Check it out here:

Episode 1: Part 2 of 3, Premieres Thursday March 11th. Please check the main website at:

Hey Jon, wanted to check out your series, but your main page doesn't allow me to scroll down to actually see the viewer (I'm on Firefox). Just FYI.

Having a budget will undoubtedly increase the quality of your show but its not absolutely necessary to kick off a web series. We've made 25 episodes on a budget of about $20 an episode. If you watch our first 5 episodes (shot all in one day), they look like crap but the writing and acting was good enough to get a few guys on board with nice equipment, eventually we got a couple of light guys, an cameraman with two HD cameras, and a boom operator all to bring their own equipment and work for free just because they are such fans of our show. Don't ask me about how to get funding cause I know nothign of the sort, we're trying to figure that out at the moment, Kickstart is something we're looking into right now. To meet your goal I would suggest borrowing a camera, use a few lamps with bright bulbs and shoot something at least loosely related to your idea for a web series. Give the people something tangible to donate to. When they see the poor quality they will assume that with their dollars that will improve. Just make sure it's written and acted well and you're in good shape. I don't want to downplay the importance of production quality but it takes a third place to writing and acting.

That's funny, I've never had that problem. I use firefox as well. I think I know what's wrong but I really don't feel like explaining it. You can always watch them right here on the web series network! Or on Youtube. username: theFreeBoxShow
